Waste and Recycling Collections – Please note the following message from Hart DC.
Due to the adverse weather conditions and restricted access to properties, all waste and recycling collections have been suspended until Monday 5 March. We will be returning for Thursday and Fridays missed refuse collections (black bins) on Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 March, so please leave these bins by the kerbside ready for collection.
We will not be returning for any recycling collections (blue bins) missed on Thursday 1 and Friday 2 March. These will be collected on the next scheduled date when excess recycling will be taken – please leave any extra recycling, such as cardboard, next to your bin.
All Garden waste collections have now been suspended until Wednesday 7 March, as the crews have been reallocated to clear the missed black bins. If you have had a missed garden waste collection, or have one due on Monday or Tuesday, then please do not put your bins /bags out. We will collect any excess garden waste on the next scheduled collection date.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused due to your recycling not being collected, but the priority is to collect the missed refuse collections.
The gritting teams have been focusing on clearing and salting the priority 1 and 2 areas identified in the Council’s snow plan, and will be checking and salting/ clearing the councils car parks tomorrow. Hampshire County Council have also gritted priority pedestrian areas.
Residents are encouraged to support the local community by clearing snow and ice from the pavement outside their homes and public spaces to prevent slips and falls, but are asked to remember to follow the snow code to clear snow and ice safely:
- Clear the snow and ice early in the day
- Use salt and sand – not water as it could freeze
- Take care where you move the snow
- Offer to clear your neighbours’ paths
With the exception of the bins in Fleet, Hook and Hartley Wintney which were emptied today, all street cleaning works have now been suspended until Monday 5th March.
