Crondall Sports Facilities

Crondall has facilities for 4 main sports:-

Cricket

Cricket is played on Hook Meadow. The facilities there are maintained by the Parish Council in conjunction with Crondall Cricket Club who employ specialist grounds people to maintain the square. You are requested to respect the taped off cricket square at all times. All enquires regarding hire of the cricket pitch on Hook Meadow should be made to Crondall Cricket Club in the first instance.

For more information regarding forthcoming fixtures or to join the Club please visit the Crondall Cricket Club website

The Hook Meadow Pavilion is jointly maintained and managed by Crondall Cricket Club and Crondall Bowls Club.

Tennis

The Crondall tennis court, situated in the South West corner of Hook Meadow, is available for everyone to use.

The Court was resurfaced in late summer 2023 with new lines painted in 2025.

The court is available for booking via the online booking system – Crondall Tennis Court | Tennis Courts | LTA

Please Note – Junior players, ie U18s will need to register for membership which is free before booking.

The Tennis court has been in place for over 60 years as this extract from The Crondall Society Magazine in 2000 relates;-

“In 1948, at around the time Louise Brough was winning Wimbledon and Gussie Moran’s lace-edged panties were causing such a sensation, Crondall’s tennis court was being built. Mr Beddington had agreed to make Hook Meadow available to the Parish Council for recreational purposes as a memorial to the village people who served in the Second World War. It seems that the tennis court was originally planned for the space now occupied by the bowling green but it was pointed out that there was a danger of too many balls landing in the gardens of nearby houses so it was built on its present site. Today one can only sympathise with the owners of Pilgrims Cottage who never complain about the noisy children who arrive on the court on a summer’s afternoon hitting balls in all sorts of strange directions. Back in 1948 four tennis players from Farnham were invited to ‘open’ the tennis court. There is no record of who these players were but it is surprising that there were no Crondall players of a suitable standard to play the inaugural game……”

Football

There is a full size football pitch at the Farnham Road Recreation Ground. This is maintained by the Parish Council and is available for hire. Adjacent to the football pitch is a modest changing pavilion with toilet facilities.

Bowls

Lawn bowls are played on the Bowling Green which is part of Hook Meadow. The Crondall Bowls Club is separately managed and is responsible for the maintenance of the Bowling Green as well as the Pavilion (which is shares with the Crondall Cricket Club).

Crondall Bowls Club has been in existence for over 60 years and its aim is to promote and provide for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Parish of Crondall and its neighbourhood, facilities for the pursuit of the game of Bowls. Membership is open to people of all ages and all abilities. The Club plays friendly matches as well as playing competitive matches in the Farnham & District league.
