Annual Community Recognition Awards
Community Recognition Awards 2026
We would like to thank all those parishioners who took the time to nominate people and groups in each of the three categories. Following a meeting of the panel, made up of representatives from the parish council, Rev Tara, Crondall Society and the local police, we were delighted to announce the following awards at the Community Engagement Evening (APM) on Monday, 11th May 2026:
- Recognising individuals aged 18 and above who have significantly contributed to the well-being of the Crondall community the Individual Community Recognition Award – Monica Cheeseman
Monica is a central force behind the Village Pump and Singing for Fun, giving her time and energy selflessly to enrich village life. She organises outings and events—especially for older residents—with unfailing care and enthusiasm. To quote one of the nominators “through quiet observation and deep understanding of individual circumstances, she instinctively knows when someone may need a visit, a helping hand, or a listening ear. Her discretion, sensitivity, and genuine compassion make her a trusted source of support and advice for many throughout the community.”
- Community Recognition Award for Young People Celebrating the efforts of individuals aged 17 or under who have demonstrated exceptional community spirit or achievement – Natalia Webb
Natalia began playing the piano at a young age, and in 2020, when she was just nine, she offered to play simple versions of the hymns and songs for the monthly 4pm Informal Family Service. She also played pieces before and after each service, eager for the opportunity to try her hand at the organ.
After Covid, when the 4pm service moved to a weekly pattern, Natalia began organ lessons and has continued to give her time faithfully, playing for the service every week—only occasionally taking a Sunday off to attend organ courses. Her younger sister, Lara, often contributes too, playing a piece at the beginning or end of the service.
Natalia’s playing has blossomed over the years, and her contribution is deeply appreciated by all who attend. She has also played for several of our Christmas Family Celebration services in recent years. Her dedication, musicianship, and willingness to serve have been exemplary.
- Community Recognition Award for Groups Acknowledging voluntary organisations, clubs, or groups that have made a meaningful impact on the community in Crondall – Crondall Events
Most of the village’s events and productions over the years have been organised by Crondall Events, a small group of local residents who volunteer their time to bring the community together. They run much‑loved occasions such as the annual Party in the Park, Bonfire Night, and various street parties held to mark significant national celebrations. Any funds raised are used to support future community events, with any surplus donated to local charities to help them continue their valuable work.
