Crondall wastewater improvement works – upcoming traffic management and road closures
An update on the traffic management arrangements for Thames Water’s upcoming sewer lining works in Crondall. These works form part of their wider programme to improve the resilience of the local wastewater network and reduce groundwater entering the sewer system.
A series of temporary traffic management measures will therefore be required from 19 October 2026.
Road closures will only be physically in place during the stated working hours; diversion signs may remain in position outside these hours but will be faced down overnight.
The planned arrangements are as follows:
- Redlands Lane – outside Laurel Cottage to outside Kadina: road closure from 19 to 21 October 2026, 8:00am–6:00pm.
- Pankridge Street – outside Kenlea to Bennells: two-way temporary traffic signals from 22 to 24 October 2026, 8:00am–6:00pm. Excavation is required at this location.
- Dippenhall Street – Pankridge Street junction to Glebe Road: road closure from 26 to 31 October 2026, 8:00am–6:00pm.
- Church Street – The Borough junction to Croft Lane: road closure from 2 to 6 November 2026, 9:00am–3:00pm.
- The Borough – Church Street junction to Dippenhall Street: road closure on 7 November 2026, 8:00am–6:00pm.
- Pankridge Street – Lefroy’s Field to Handcroft Close: road closure from 11 to 21 January 2027, 8:00am–6:00pm.
While some of these arrangements will have a relatively localised impact, the closure of Dippenhall Street is expected to affect travel across the wider village. Thames Water appreciate that these works may cause inconvenience and will work with their delivery partners to minimise disruption wherever possible.
